Lynne believes resident engagement is fundamental to successful local governance. So, she conceived the Citizens Academy, worked with city staff to make it a reality five years ago, and now works with many of the program's 200+ graduates who are engaged as volunteers and in other capacities in many areas of our city life and in many of our city's departments.
Lynne also led the partnership with Clovis Unified School District to create a 'teacher's edition' of the Citizen's Academy. Each summer, 30 CUSD teachers come together to learn about our community, our local government and to identify simple ways to link local government to the students and their classroom teaching.
